Welcome to the 2025–2026 School Year!
Dear Harbor View School Families,
Hope you are having a restful and joyful summer. I cannot believe it is already August, and we are about to begin the 2025–2026 school year. In preparation for our first day of school on Thursday, September 4th, here are a few updates and to share information based on questions I have recently been asked.
- Class Assignments: Will be emailed to your address on file in www.schoolsaccount.nyc the week of August 25th.
- School Supplies: Here is our general supply wish list, most items can be easily found at back-to-school sales or from Back-to-School Giveaways. We realize you may not be able to get everything on the list, and that is okay. If you need help getting your child’s backpack, classroom or individual supplies, please send me an email at kdruda@theharborviewschool.org
. - After School Partnerships: Registration is open for each of our partnerships, please contact them directly to apply and receive details about the programs.
- Goodhue: LIMITED SPOTS AVAILABLE - Registration is now. Call 718-447-2630 or email avindigni@childrensaid.nyc.org
- JCC Cornerstone: Contact Mrs. Z @ (718) 981-7942 or (929) 877-8614 or email: czeigler@sijcc.com
- NYCID: If you already have access to the NYCID Parent Portal please log in and click the “Enroll” tab. If you are new to NYCID’s Online Registration system, go to www.nycid.org click What We Do then select Youth Development and then After School and Summer Programs- scroll down to forms and resources and click New Parent Registration. Fill out form. After you submit your registration, please log into the Parent Portal.
- New York City Schools Account: Please log into your www.schoolsaccount.nyc and verify your phone, address and email address are all up-to-date and correct. If you have any changes, please email ps59@theharborviewschool.org. If need assistance with loggin into your schools account, please send me an email at KDruda@theharborviewschool.org
. - Yellow School Bus Service: If your child will be utilizing the yellow school bus service this school year, please complete this google form. If you are unsure or need additional information about the yellow school bus service, please complete this form and we will be in touch the week of August 25th. The office of pupil transportation (OPT) will update your child's transportation information in www.schoolsaccount.nyc during the last week of August.
This year, we’re looking forward to exciting new programs, family workshops, and school-wide events that will bring us together and celebrate the amazing work our students and staff are doing. Your involvement makes a huge difference, and I encourage you to stay connected, ask questions, and share your ideas.

A portion of ticket proceeds from this link will support the school's PTA.
Gates open at 5:30 PM, with the game starting at 6:30 PM. Stick around after the game for a spectacular postgame fireworks show!

First Day of School for all students
School Hours: 8:00 am - 2:20 pm
Doors open at 7:45am for grades K to 5th
Doors open at 7:55am for 3K and 4K
Class Assignments: Will be emailed the last week of August. If you do not receive by 8/28, please email ps59@theharborviewschool.org.
Arrival:
- 3K & 4K - Doors will open at 7:55am. Families will enter through DOOR 2 located inside of the school yard. Parents will escort their children to their classrooms.
- Kindergarten to 5th grade - Doors will open at 7:45am. Students will enter thru DOOR 5 (located on ferry side of main entrance) .Upon arrival, students will go to the cafeteria for breakfast and meet their teachers.

Virtual CURRICULUM NIGHT - SAVE THE DATE
Curriculum night is an event where families can:
- Learn about the exciting developments for the 2025 - 2026 School Year.
- Gain insights into our school day, policies, and routines.
- Understand the grade level expectations for student achievement, as well as procedures from their classroom teachers.
Sessions will be held in the evening on ZOOM.
Details with zoom registration and login will be sent home on first day of school.

NYCID After-Care
NYCID: Serving grades 4K to 5th. Registration for 2025-2026 in NOW Open!
The After Care program will begin on the 1st full day of school and will follow a school calendar operating from 2:20PM-6:00PM (closing promptly at 6:00pm).
Registration: If you already have access to the NYCID Parent Portal please log in and click the “Enroll” tab. If you are new to NYCID’s Online Registration system, go to www.nycid.org click What We Do then select Youth Development and then After School and Summer Programs- scroll down to forms and resources and click New Parent Registration. Fill out form. After you submit your registration, please log into the Parent Portal. If you are in need of After Care for the upcoming school year, you may be eligible for a Voucher that would pay for the program at no cost to you. In order to see if you are eligible you must apply ASAP. It can take up to 4 weeks to receive your voucher so you must act quickly to begin After Care in the Fall. The application is online only.:
- Please copy and paste the below link into your browser: http://mycity.nyc.gov/
- Click on Check eligibility and apply for child care assistance under Child care, then click on Apply now under Apply for child Care.
- Select Child Care Voucher under New Child Care Voucher, then create an account, Once an account is created you can start the process to see if you are eligible for a voucher.
